The Aquascape Classic Series Standard and Large Pond Skimmer Filter Mat is a factory replacement mechanical filtration pad for Classic Series standard and large pond skimmer units. The mat captures floating debris, leaves, and suspended particles as pond water passes through the skimmer, protecting the pump and biological filtration components downstream from fine clogging particles.

Skimmer filter mats gradually lose their structural integrity after repeated compression and cleaning cycles, developing holes and uneven density that allow debris to bypass the mat and reach the pump. Replacing the mat annually, or as soon as performance degradation is observed, restores the skimmer's full mechanical filtration capacity and extends pump service life by removing particles before they reach the impeller housing.

How to Use
Remove the existing filter mat from the skimmer by lifting it out of the mat holder or frame. Rinse the mat holder with pond water to clear accumulated debris. Insert the replacement mat into the holder, ensuring it seats against all four edges without gaps around the perimeter. Replace the skimmer lid. Inspect and clean the mat every one to two weeks during peak debris season (spring leaf fall, autumn leaf fall). Rinse in pond water, not tap water, to preserve any beneficial bacteria that have colonised the mat surface.
