Prime EPDM Surfaces for Lasting Tape Bond Strength
Aquascape EPDM Tape Primer (946 mL / 1 qt) is a contact adhesive primer applied to cleaned EPDM pond liner surfaces before butyl rubber seam tape or cover tape installation. It chemically prepares the EPDM surface to form a stronger, more durable bond with the butyl tape adhesive, substantially improving the peel strength and long-term watertightness of the completed seam.
Stronger, More Durable EPDM Seams With One Step
Applying tape directly to an unprimed EPDM surface after cleaning still produces an acceptable bond under ideal temperature and moisture conditions. However, cold weather, residual surface moisture, and aged liner surfaces all reduce unprimed bond strength. Tape Primer compensates for these variables by creating a chemically receptive surface that the butyl adhesive wets uniformly, producing consistent bond strength regardless of environmental conditions at the time of application.

How to Use
Apply EPDM Tape Primer after completing surface preparation with EPDM Surface Prep. Brush or roller-apply a thin, even coat to both EPDM surfaces that will be bonded. Allow the primer to become tacky (touch-dry without being fully cured), typically 10 to 20 minutes depending on temperature and humidity. Apply the seam tape while the primer is in the tacky state for best adhesion. Do not allow the primer to cure fully before taping, as this reduces bond effectiveness. Work in a ventilated area.
Ideal for pond construction and liner repair applications requiring a durable butyl tape bond, particularly in cool or humid conditions or when bonding to aged liner surfaces.
