Aquatic Plant Potting Media for Submerged Pond Plant Containers
Aquascape Pond Plant Potting Media 864 cu in (0.014 cbm) is a loam-free mineral growing medium designed for submerged aquatic plant pots in koi ponds and water gardens. It provides root anchorage and nutrient exchange without the organic content of garden soil or potting compost, which clouds water and fuels algae growth when submerged.
Submerged Growing Medium That Does Not Cloud the Water
Standard soil and potting mix cloud pond water with fine particles and decompose rapidly underwater, releasing nitrogen and phosphorus that directly fuel algae blooms. Aquatic plant potting media is formulated to stay intact in submerged conditions, allow roots to penetrate, and provide the mineral exchange needed for aquatic plants without organic loading of the water column. Koi-safe at all life stages.

How to Use
Fill aquatic plant containers two-thirds full with potting media before planting. Plant rhizomes or root balls at the correct depth for the species, cover to the crown, and top-dress with pea gravel to prevent fish from disturbing the root zone. Rinse containers before placing in the pond to clear loose dust. Lower containers to the correct depth for each plant species. Replace media when repotting, typically every 2 to 3 years.
Ideal for all aquatic plant containers in koi and goldfish ponds where standard growing media would cloud the water and fuel algae growth through nutrient leaching.
