The Aquascape Signature Series 400 Skimmer Weir Door is the factory-replacement hinged flap that hangs at the skimmer intake opening on the Signature Series 400 pond skimmer. The weir door floats at the water surface and swings inward to admit surface debris and water flow while providing enough back-pressure to maintain the surface-level draw that makes skimming effective. A cracked, rigid, or missing weir door allows the skimmer to pull from below the surface rather than at the top, reducing debris capture and increasing pump energy consumption at the same flow rate.
Surface-Level Skimming Depends on a Functional Weir Door
The weir door works by floating at the surface and creating a controlled, shallow entry point for water into the skimmer. Without it, or with a stiff, warped door that does not float correctly, the skimmer intake draws from deeper in the water column, missing the surface layer where most floating debris accumulates. Replacing a worn or cracked weir door restores the surface-skim action without any other skimmer servicing.

How to Use
Remove the existing weir door by lifting it free from the hinge pins on the skimmer face plate. Hook the new door over the hinge pins with the door face on the pond side of the skimmer opening. Confirm the door swings freely inward when pressed and returns to vertical without sticking. Test the skimmer at normal pump flow to confirm the door floats at the correct surface level and a surface current draws toward the skimmer intake.
