Atlantic Water Gardens 1 1/2" - 2" Universal Check Valve

Backflow Prevention for Pond Plumbing

The Atlantic Water Gardens 1-1/2-inch to 2-inch universal check valve prevents backflow in pond, waterfall, and water feature plumbing lines when the pump shuts off. Without a check valve on a discharge line, the full water column in the pipe above the pump drains back through the pump when power is cut — stressing the pump impeller, creating water hammer noise, and depleting the pond or waterfall header of water. This check valve seals automatically on pump shutoff, preventing reverse flow and protecting both the pump and the plumbing system.

Universal Sizing

Designed to fit both 1-1/2-inch and 2-inch pipe schedules using its universal body design, this check valve is the versatile single-item solution for the two most common pipe sizes used in residential pond and waterfall installations. It eliminates the need to stock both sizes separately or guess which size is installed in an existing system.

Installation Notes

Install on the pump discharge line in a vertical-up or horizontal orientation. Do not install in a downflow orientation. The check valve is spring-assisted for reliable closure at low flow velocities. Use Sch.40 adapters as needed to transition between pipe sizes at the valve connections.

Pipe Sizes 1-1/2" and 2" (universal)
Function Backflow prevention on pump discharge lines
Mechanism Spring-assisted check valve
Orientation Vertical-up or horizontal (not downflow)
Application Ponds, waterfalls, stream plumbing
  • Universal body fits 1-1/2" and 2" pipe — one valve for both common sizes
  • Prevents backflow and water hammer on pump shutoff
  • Spring-assisted for reliable closure at low flow velocities
  • Protects pump impeller from reverse-spin backflow damage
