The Atlantic Water Gardens 18-inch natural basalt column is a pre-drilled volcanic stone column for pond and garden water feature installations. Basalt's dense, naturally dark finish and columnar fracture pattern make it one of the most elegant materials for a bubbling stone or pondless waterfall feature — the water wells up through the drilled core and sheets over the natural stone surface, creating an organic, naturalistic effect that synthetic materials cannot replicate.

Real Stone, Not Cast Resin

Natural basalt columns are quarried and cut from actual volcanic rock — every piece is unique in its surface texture, banding, and columnar joint pattern. Unlike cast resin imitations, genuine basalt develops a rich, dark patina when continuously wetted, enhancing the depth and colour of the stone's natural finish over time. The basalt is pre-drilled through its centre to accept standard 3/4-inch or 1-inch supply tubing from a pump vault or fountain basin below, making installation straightforward without stone masonry skills.

How to Install

Set the basalt column on a stable, level base in a fountain basin or over an Eco-Blox reservoir. Thread supply tubing from the pump up through the pre-drilled core. Adjust pump flow to achieve the desired water effect — low flow produces a gentle welling bubble; higher flow creates a sheeting effect down the column sides. Pair with additional basalt columns using an Eco-Rise diverter for a multi-column grouping. Safe for koi ponds — basalt is non-toxic and chemically inert.
