Top Section Replacement
The Atlantic Water Gardens AquaSkim riser tube top section is the upper portion of the two-part riser tube assembly on the Oase AquaSkim surface skimmer. The top section connects to the floating skimmer body and telescopes within the bottom section to accommodate changing pond water levels automatically. It is the section most exposed to UV radiation and mechanical wear from the float ring and skimmer body movement.
UV-Exposed Top Section
The top riser section floats at or near the water surface level — putting it in constant contact with UV radiation and the freeze-thaw cycling that degrades outdoor polymer components most aggressively. Brittleness and surface cracking typically appear on the top section before the bottom section due to this increased UV and thermal exposure. A cracked top section allows air to enter the suction side of the riser assembly, reducing pump efficiency and causing surface skimming disruption. Replace the top section at the first sign of cracking or brittleness.

How to Replace
Remove the AquaSkim from the pond. Disconnect the top riser tube section from the floating skimmer body and from the bottom riser section. Install the new top section, confirming all connection points and seals are correctly engaged. Return the skimmer to the pond and verify the float ring positions the intake weir correctly at the water surface. Confirm the top and bottom sections telescope smoothly as the water level varies.
