Precision Replacement Bearing
The Atlantic Water Gardens ceramic shaft for the TidalWave MD1000 is the precision bearing shaft at the core of the pump's magnetically driven impeller assembly. At 1,080 GPH (4,088 LPH) and 90W, the MD1000 works harder than smaller MD models, and its ceramic shaft bears more load. Replacing the shaft at the first signs of noise prevents further damage to the pump housing's bearing cup.
Prevent Costly Housing Damage
When a ceramic shaft wears unevenly, the wobbling impeller begins to erode the fixed bearing pin moulded into the pump housing. Once the housing is damaged, the pump body itself needs replacement — a far more expensive repair. Replacing the ceramic shaft as soon as grinding noise appears costs a fraction of pump replacement and preserves the housing for years of continued use. The MD1000 ceramic shaft is a distinct size from smaller MD models and is not interchangeable.

How to Replace
Unplug and remove the MD1000 from service. Rotate the front cover counter-clockwise and remove the impeller assembly. Extract the ceramic shaft from the magnet rotor core. Insert the new shaft, ensuring full seating. Reinstall the impeller and housing. Confirm smooth rotation and return to service. Check this component annually at spring startup.
Ideal for medium and large water features maintained year-round in Canadian ponds.
