Genuine OEM Bearing Shaft
The Atlantic Water Gardens ceramic shaft for the TidalWave MD1250 replaces the precision bearing shaft inside the pump's impeller assembly. Ceramic shaft wear is the primary cause of noise in mag-drive pumps. Replacing this component at the first sign of a grinding sound can restore quiet operation and extend the MD1250's service life by several seasons.
Why Use the OEM Shaft
Ceramic shafts may look like simple rods, but diameter tolerances of even a tenth of a millimetre affect bearing play in the magnet rotor. An OEM shaft machined to the MD1250's specifications runs with the correct clearance in the bearing cup. Generic shafts cut to approximate dimensions introduce play that accelerates wear on the housing bearing pin — the part that cannot be replaced separately. Always use the factory-spec shaft to protect the housing.

How to Replace
Remove and unplug the MD1250. Open the front housing by rotating counter-clockwise. Extract the impeller assembly and remove the ceramic shaft from the magnet core. Seat the new shaft fully and reinstall the impeller. Reassemble the housing and confirm the impeller rotates freely and quietly. Return to service.
Ideal for maintaining large decorative water feature pumps through multiple Canadian seasons.
