Critical Mag-Drive Wear Part
The Atlantic Water Gardens ceramic shaft replacement fits all TidalWave MD350, MD550, and MD750 mag-drive pumps, as well as the smaller MD250. The ceramic shaft is the single most wear-prone component in a mag-drive pump — it supports the spinning impeller assembly against a fixed bearing pin, and gradual wear causes noise and reduced flow long before the pump fails entirely.
Extend Pump Life at Low Cost
Ceramic shafts are harder and more corrosion-resistant than steel, but they are not indestructible. Hard water minerals, sand, and algae particles act as abrasives over time. When noise begins — a light grinding sound at startup or under load — replacing only the ceramic shaft may restore the pump to quiet operation without replacing the full impeller assembly. Always try the ceramic shaft first as the lower-cost solution.

How to Replace
Remove and unplug the pump. Open the front housing counter-clockwise. Remove the impeller assembly and carefully extract the ceramic shaft from the centre of the magnet rotor. Insert the new shaft, ensuring it seats fully and straight. Reinstall the impeller assembly and housing. Confirm free rotation before returning to service. Replace at spring startup if noise appeared in the prior season.
Ideal for maintaining smaller MD-series pumps through multiple Canadian pond seasons at low cost.
