Copper Ion Level Verification
The Atlantic Water Gardens Triton ionizer test strips allow pond keepers to quickly verify that their Triton, Triton2, or Triton3 ionizer is producing copper ions at the correct concentration for effective algae control. Test strips provide an immediate, colour-based reading of the dissolved copper ion level in the pond water — confirming that the ionizer is active, the anode is in good condition, and the copper level is within the target range for algae suppression without risk to fish or aquatic plants.
Why Testing Matters
An ionizer that is working correctly produces a consistent background copper level in the water. If the test strip shows zero or very low copper, the anode may be depleted, the ionizer may have lost power, or the flow rate through the ionizer may be too high. If the reading is above the safe range, the unit may need repositioning in a higher-flow area or the output setting may need reducing. Regular testing — every two to four weeks — catches these issues before they affect water quality or fish health.
Usage
Dip a strip in pond water for the time indicated on the packaging. Compare the colour result to the supplied colour scale. Record results in a maintenance log to track seasonal trends in ionizer performance.
