Without a proper seal, incoming water short-circuits past the foam media and returns to the pond only partially filtered, undermining water clarity and biological performance.
Eliminates Hidden Bypass
Because this gasket sits inside the filter, a failure is invisible from the outside — the only symptom is gradually declining water quality despite clean foam. Installation
Power off the pump and open the filter lid. Lift out the foam assemblies to access the internal cover plate. Peel the old gasket from the groove, clean any residue, and seat the new gasket evenly. Reassemble the foam stages in the correct colour order, close the lid, and restart the system.
Ideal for annual spring maintenance on BioSmart and Biotec compact filters, especially when water clarity has dropped for no obvious reason.
