Automatic Float Sump Pump, 1/2 HP — 50 GPM Capacity

The Zoeller 1/2 HP sump pump handles higher water volumes than a 1/3 HP unit and moves them faster — 50 GPM maximum versus 43 GPM — making it the right choice for basements with aggressive seepage, larger sump pits, or longer discharge runs that add backpressure. The automatic float switch operates without intervention, activating when water rises and shutting off when the pit drains.

More Power Where You Need It

At 1/2 HP, this pump maintains flow against greater head pressure than its smaller counterpart, which matters when your discharge line runs a long horizontal distance or up more than one storey before exiting the building. The 3/8" solids-passing port handles the debris typical of a residential sump pit without jamming. Thermal overload protection shuts the motor down if it runs hot and resets automatically when it cools.

Specification Value

Amperage 6.5 amps
Max Flow 50 GPM (189 LPM)
Solids Handling Up to 3/8" (9.5 mm)

Motor Protection Thermal overload, auto-reset

Installation

Place the pump at the lowest point of your sump pit. Connect the discharge line and route it well away from the foundation. Confirm the float swings freely before powering on. Test manually by adding water until the float triggers. Check the float monthly during periods of active use to make sure it moves freely and the switch snaps cleanly at both the on and off positions.

Ideal for basements with high seepage volumes, larger sump pits, long discharge runs, or anywhere a 1/3 HP unit has previously struggled to keep up during heavy rain events.
